Nearly 1,000 hectares of construction projects were approved by Dubai Municipality up until December last year, according to a recent news release.
These developments span across several categories including residential, commercial, public services, mixed-use, tourist, and open area projects.
The Municipality’s assistant general director Eng Dawoud Al Hajiri said seven major development projects were approved in 2017.
The size of the project areas approved last year increased by 71% on 2016, while the size of urban floor areas went up more than 73%.
Eng Najib Mohammed Saleh, director of Dubai Municipality’s planning department, said his team also completed the approval of 500 applications for urban projects in 2017.
Saleh revealed that the approvals were completed ‘with an average implementation time of no more than eight days, or 16% less than in 2016’.
The Municipality also successfully prepared 13 studies for the renovation of areas in the city last year.
